Wando Football suffered its first loss of the season Friday night, falling 28-10 to rival Lucy Beckham in a highly anticipated matchup at Wando.
Lucy Beckham jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead, but the Warriors responded with 10 unanswered points in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 14-10 at halftime. The Bengals regained control after the break, scoring a touchdown in both the third and fourth quarters while holding Wando scoreless to secure the 28-10 victory.
Quarterback Cape Whittaker completed 17 of 24 passes for 239 yards and a touchdown, while Jake Glassberg led the ground game with 92 yards on 10 carries. Ryan Jahn was Wando's leading receiver with 119 yards and a touchdown.
The loss moved Wando to 2-1 on the season following victories over West Ashley and May River.
The Warriors look to bounce back the following week on the road against Fort Dorchester.
