WANDO SWIM OPENS SEASON WITH SWEEP OF CANE BAY

Wando Swimming opened the 2026-27 season at home on August 18, with both the girls and boys taking first place in a four-team meet against Cane Bay, Palmetto Christian and Berkeley. The Warriors posted 14 event wins and 52 top-three finishes on the night.

The boys set the tone with nine event wins. Evan Hoffman won both the 200 freestyle (1:55.04) and the 100 freestyle (52.47), and Brody Johnson took the 50 freestyle in 22.98. Paddy O'Connell won the 100 backstroke in 54.82, and Jack Braden led a Wando sweep of the 500 freestyle in 5:27.92, followed by Owen Moore and Phin Hall. Sam Wiesner won the 200 IM in 2:13.46 as Brady Jackson and Finian Mears finished second and third for another sweep.

The boys also won all three relays. O'Connell, Clay Ingham, Johnson and Wiesner opened the meet with a 1:44.26 in the 200 medley relay. Johnson, Wiesner, O'Connell and Hoffman won the 200 free relay in 1:32.91, and Johnson, Hoffman, Hall and Wiesner closed the night in the 400 free relay at 3:39.03.

On the girls side, Mary Culbertson won the 200 freestyle in 2:14.55 and Kamryn McCoy won the 100 butterfly in 1:06.70. Nadya Perron added runner-up finishes in the 200 IM and 100 freestyle, and Nora Fritts placed second in both the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Taylor Cunningham was second in the 100 breaststroke.

The girls also took all three relays. Fritts, Perron, McCoy and Hayden Frederick won the 200 medley relay in 2:00.95. Elizabeth Wiesner, Mia Magner, McCoy and Culbertson won the 200 free relay in 1:53.32, and Perron, Elsie Mims, Culbertson and Fritts won the 400 free relay in 4:06.91.
