WANDO SWEEPS FORT DORCHESTER; HOFFMAN BREAKS 50 IN THE 100 FREE

Wando's girls and boys both beat Fort Dorchester at home on September 10, winning 20 events between them. The highlight came in the boys 100 freestyle, where Evan Hoffman won in 49.68, the first time a Wando swimmer broke 50 seconds in the event this season.

Hoffman also won the 50 freestyle in 23.01. Sam Wiesner won the 100 butterfly in 56.46, Paddy O'Connell won the 100 backstroke in 55.84, and Brody Johnson won the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.96. Jack Braden won the 200 freestyle in 1:59.71, and Gregory Boyette won the 500 freestyle in 5:34.71 as Owen Moore and Phin Hall finished second and third. Wando also swept the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke.

The boys won all three relays. O'Connell, Johnson, Wiesner and Hoffman won the 200 medley relay in 1:43.27, their fastest of the season. Wiesner, Braden, Clay Ingham and Johnson won the 200 free relay in 1:36.92, and Wiesner, Johnson, Hoffman and O'Connell won the 400 free relay in 3:44.27.

The girls won 10 events. Kamryn McCoy won the 200 freestyle (2:11.92) and the 500 freestyle (5:54.05), and Nora Fritts won the 100 freestyle (57.75) and the 100 backstroke (1:06.21). Mia Magner won the 50 freestyle in 27.63, Elizabeth Wiesner won the 100 butterfly in 1:08.99, and Taylor Cunningham won the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.09, just ahead of teammate Charlotte Jablonski (1:17.19). The girls swept the top three in the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 500 freestyle, 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke.

The girls also won all three relays. Fritts, Cunningham, Elizabeth Wiesner and Elsie Mims took the 200 medley relay in 2:01.96, Magner, Doga Coskun, Mary Culbertson and McCoy won the 200 free relay in 1:51.96, and McCoy, Magner, Culbertson and Fritts won the 400 free relay in 4:03.71.
